This is a comprehensive and student-centered process that supports students in achieving academic success, success in other pursuits such as arts, sports, music, people skills, polytechnic etc. this is in preparation for career readiness and build on individuals’ abilities & aspirations.

  • Academic or other skills counselling encompasses a range of elements aimed at supporting students in their learning journey and helping them achieve their goals.
  • Learning Planning: Counsellors assist students in developing personalized learning plans based on their interests, strengths, career goals, and abilities. This includes course selection, course planning & execution, and goal setting.
  • Course Selection and Registration: Counselors help students navigate course catalogues, understand course requirements, and make informed decisions about course selection. We also assist with registration processes and course scheduling.
  • Progress Monitoring: Counselors monitor students' progress by reviewing transcripts of their performance, assessing grades, and identifying areas of improvement. We provide feedback and guidance to help students stay on track academically or in their skill area.
  • Learning Skills and Time Management: Counselors teach learning skills, time management strategies, and effective learning techniques to help students improve their performance. This includes developing executive function skills.
  • Goal Setting and Motivation: Counselors work with students to set academic/skill and career goals, develop action plans, and stay motivated. We provide encouragement, support, and resources to help students achieve their goals.
  • Career Counselling: Counsellors offer career exploration and planning services, including assessments, career counseling sessions, and guidance on choosing majors or career paths aligned with students' interests and skills.
  • Resource Referrals: Counselors connect students with resources and support services, such as tutoring centers, writing labs, academic workshops, counseling services, and disability accommodations.
  • Personal Development: We provide specific assessments and training in about 40 domains of personal development.
  • Interpersonal Development: We provide specific assessments and training in about 40 domains of interpersonal development.
  • Graduation Planning: Counselors assist students in planning for graduation by ensuring they meet course completion requirements, completing graduation applications, and addressing any outstanding learning issues.
  • Transfer and Transition Support: For students planning to transfer to other institutions or transition to the workforce; counselors provide guidance on transfer requirements, application processes, and career readiness skills.
